"Evening Glide" sees a single spotted eagle ray gliding across the canvas. With this artwork I aimed to capture the elegance of the ray. Using an engraving technique, I carved out it's unique pattern. I used soft pastels to add highlights and bring it out of the canvas. Around the ray, plaster ripples create the illusion of water, suggesting movement and depth. I wanted to create a piece that draws you in with simplicity, focusing on form and texture to invite your eyes to dance around the canvas.
